Yoga for Low Back PAIN RELIEF | David O Yoga

If you have low back pain like I did for years, this practice will help you! I share many of the things I’ve learned through my own personal yoga practice over the years – stretches and postures to relieve low back pain that you might be experiencing now, AND we address the root causes of low back pain with stretches, strengthening exercises (especially for the core, abs, hips and glutes) and postures to help you prevent low back pain from recurring. This practice is loaded with all those goodies, AND a sweet little flow to energize and revitalize, AND a live music serenade in savasana to help you fall more deeply into a state of rest and relaxation.

This practice is great for yogis of all levels of experience, including beginners, and for all body shapes and sizes.

This practice is meant to address the most common causes of chronic low back pain that often occur from weakness in the core, hips and glutes which can cause strain on the low back. This practice is not meant to treat acute spinal injuries, or injuries of any sort. Please listen to your body, skip any poses that feel unreasonable, and consult your doctor in the case of any injury.

The mantra I’m singing in today in savasana is “Adi Shakti” and it comes from the Kundalini Yoga tradition. It helps us to experience union with the divine feminine power of creation. It allows that power flow through us more freely, creating physical, mental and emotional healing, and empowering us to create more love and light in the world.

Adi Shakti Adi Shakti Adi Shakti, Namo Namo
Sarab Shakti Sarab Shakti Sarab Shakti, Namo Namo
Pritham Bhagvati Pritham Bhagvati Pritham Bhagvati, Namo Namo
Kundalini Mata Shakti Mata Shakti, Namo Namo

Meaning:

I bow to the Primal Power of creation.
I bow to the all Encompassing Power and Energy, that which created everything in the Universe.
I bow to the creative power of the kundalini, the Divine feminine.

  1. Wow! David…u do ur Yogasanas so well..but ur attempt at chanting a Sanskrit mantra was heart❤ warming indeed. It's difficult to get the Sanskrit pronunciations correctly..but the very fact that anyone who is not a Hindu n yet trying to get it right is worth appreciating n amazing. I admire u n bow down to u. I luv all ur sessions but with my limited flexibility n down side of life not able to get into all of them.

  2. Hi David, thank you so much for this truly heartfelt offering, it has been my go-to for about 6 months as I do get lower back pain. I wonder if you’d be up for making a follow-up class which might be the next step from this one, for those who’ve already been practicing this? (E.g. you mention one legged flute bridges…) and agreed, love the singing! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

  3. David, I swear we're riding the same wave length! You always put out videos for exactly what I need! This week my lower back was in serious pain so thank you SO MUCH for this video!!!!!

    With gratitude,
    Rhys
