How we freeze fat with CoolSculpting #shorts

CoolSculpting has had a lot of press lately. Here is our two cents on the technology:

It works but is it risk free? No, like any procedure it has risks. Key is to make sure each patient is aware of the risks so can make an informed decision.

It works but is everyone a good candidate? No. CoolSculpting does not work on visceral fat. It does not help loose skin or cellulite.

It works but is it weight loss? No, CoolSculpting is not a method for weight loss. The ideal candidate is targeting stubborn fat that is hard to get rid of with diet/exercise.

It works but is it going to completely get rid of my fat with one treatment? No. CoolSculpting is typically AT LEAST two treatments and each person’s starting point and desired outcome is unique.

It works but can I go to anyone with a device and expect similar results? No, experience and credentials matter! If you wouldn’t go to just anyone to buy your hair, why would you go to just anyone to do a medical procedure on you? Even if considered aesthetic, it is a medical treatment.

With any treatment, the key is to make patients aware of the risks and befits so each patient can make an informed decision. Fortunately we haven’t had any major complications (besides with some discomfort, soreness, feeling swollen, etc) with CoolSculpting within our practice over the past 10 years but doesn’t mean they can’t happen.

I personally love CoolSculpting and it has done wonders for my stomach after 3 babies. I understand the risks but it doesn’t outweigh the benefits for me and given what I’ve seen within our own office, I’m not too concerned with the likelihood of experiencing any extreme adverse outcome.

  1. I know a lot of negativity around CS. We don’t take it personally. It is one of the 35+ laser/device treatments we provide. Our purpose here is to educate/showcase treatments. There are SO many ppl providing CS and many without much oversight. So I can totally get why people have had negative experiences. Within our practice, people getting it do exercise and eat healthy. This is not weight loss and we are straight forward with people. If you aren’t within 20
Lbs of your ideal weight, you probably shouldn’t be doing this unless you have a lot of disposable income. This treatment is NOT cheap. It is multiple treatments. In our practice at least, we care about quality vs quantity so we have turned many ppl away. I rather have a patient not spend thousands with us vs spending and then deeply regretting because it was too much money for them for the type of results CS yields. – Amy

  2. It doesn’t work!!! Don’t waste your money!!! I did it and it didn’t work, not even a little!!! What it does is it makes your body swollen and then when the swelling goes down, you think that you lost weight it’s a hoax a money scam don’t do it. I beg of you. It’s the stupidest thing you could ever do. Take it for me. I did not even lose a pound, no sculpting whatsoever!

  3. This ain’t stubborn belly fat 🤔 that person has a good amount of fat to lose by just staying in a deficit🙄 it’s stubborn if you genetically store more fat in the lower belly, while you are already very lean. This patient is not even close to be lean

  4. This is a big no. Idk why doctors don’t tell people not to get this. People if you want to lose weight exercise and clean eating cut out the junk, the sweets, etc eat clean

  5. PLEASE, I am begging everyone to read this, DO NOT get cool sculpting done. It is an absolutely HORRIFIC experience. It will traumatize you. I had this done after my first son because I had tried diet and exercise for 8 months with no results. I felt defeated and hopeless and felt I had to look further than just life style changes. I understand that everyone is different and will have different outcomes but for me personally it was hell. As it freezes below freezing temperatures it is like frostbite in one particular area of the body and the rest of your body goes into flight or flight mode trying to figure out how to save that one particular area, pins and needles is an understatement. excruciatingly painful. I remember seconds feeling like minutes and minutes feeling like hours. The part they don’t tell you about is the massage. Once they finish they have to THOROUGHLY and deeply massage the area gripping and kneading with force. It is the most UNCOMFORTABLE feeling. I was praying for it to end the entire time. It is numb but an incredibly uncomfortable burning, prickly kind of numb and feels like they are trying to massage a solid frozen block out of your skin. Restless legs and arms the whole time. Worst part of it, because I was only doing one area I felt I had to go back or the results would be uneven. Thinking of having to do it again was DREADFULLY HORRIFYING. It took so so long for the uncomfortable frozen numbness feeling to subside and when it did it was my stomach felt like it had been sent through a grinder. It was so unbelievably sensitive for days. You guys…. The results are NOT visible….. they said to give it time… nope. Literally the slightest difference almost slim to NONE. All of that thinking you’re going to get enough results to give you the motivation and push you’re looking for. Just please beware you guys. And the cost? Pointless not to just save a little longer and PUT UNDER for actual results if your someone who tried doing the “healthy lifestyle thing” for a significant amount of time with no results.

  6. Destroying the fat cells won't get rid of the actual fat. Even if you don't suffer from the many many possible complications of this surgery, you'll still have the fat, it will just have moved to a new location in your body.

  7. Meanwhile, doctors tell people to go on a diet . They give no directions and disagree with information on different body types based on where we store fat the most. Each diet and excerise is created for each body type. Doctors fat shaming people.
