Practicing yoga just two or three times a week can improve pain, physical fitness, and mood. Sometimes people living with arthritis can feel intimidated from approaching a yoga practice.

In this video we’ll show you a few ways that you can modify a yoga practice to make it more accessible, safer, and more comfortable for those with arthritis.

We’ll discuss safe ways to get up and down from the floor, ways to adjust the poses for both wrists and knees, and yoga poses that you can do seated in a chair.

  1. Wow, I just was watching a YT video for Yoga/Arthritis that would have put me in Hospital. Your video was SO MUCH BETTER. You actually know what your are talking about, and understand the pain and immobility involved with old age and arthritis. WELL DONE!!!
    PS I have had two knees replaced and arthritis in my hips knees and shoulders.

  3. Would help to see someone with the daily pain get down and up, in and out of the chair, instead of a health person trying to act like i5s painful. Good video just not what I can relate to. Also we are seniors but please use normal voice, not slow teacher voice.

  5. Thanks so much for these tips. I have Still's Disease and have a lot of joint damage. People tell me so often that yoga can help me, but it's difficult to figure out how to do it with my limitations when so many routines have moves that just aren't possible for me. If you have suggestions (or other viewers) have suggestions for videos that have more accessible routines… I'd certainly welcome them.

  6. Hi, just want to say how helpful this video is. I think the only realistic explanation for such little viewing is that maybe the people who really do need to see this video are in so much pain they can't type! In any case, I have rheumatoid arthritis, linked to my SLE, and I'm 23…it's pretty severe, but I'm willing to try anything! These position hacks are definitely something I'll try soon!
