Discover how pregnancy changes every organ in the body— from the heart, to the brain and kidneys— and what we still don’t know about it.

Muscles and joints shift and jostle. The heart’s pounding rhythm speeds up. Blood roars through arteries and veins. Over the course of a pregnancy, every organ in the body changes. Initiated by a range of hormones, these changes begin as soon as a pregnancy begins. Explore what we know— and don’t know— about pregnancy’s effects on the body and brain.

  1. I have always been terrified of pregnancy and childbirth and thankfully have never gotten pregnant and I am almost 50. I am surprised more women aren't terrified of it too. I will always be pro-choice because no women or girl should be forced to endure pregnancy when they don't want to (to those naysayers out there, many women get pregnant while on birth control- 4 of my friends did and there are millions more out there.)

  2. Awesome video, thanks! Almost 40 weeks here, everything feels exactly like that. To early pregnancy moms: don’t quit exercising! Respect your body but keep tour muscles strong. You’re gonna need that!

  3. 34 weeks tomorrow & feeling super anxious to give birth 😅 this is baby #4.. I’ve had a singleton & then twins. Baby girl will be here in December. Prayers to all the super moms in this world! You are loved & appreciated ❤
