There’s magic in cracking open a fresh planner, the blank pages unfurling before you, representing a clean slate for you to embellish with your hopes, ambitions, challenges, and triumphs.
And, despite the digitally inclined world in which we live, writing things down with paper and pen remains a transformative practice. Many people find that it motivates them to work toward their goals, and research suggests that writing helps release negative emotions—so you can free up brain space and actually enjoy the process of working toward something.
2025 Planners to Help You Feel Aligned In the New Year
These weekly, monthly, and yearly planners will have you anticipating the start of a new year (and, yes, may help you feel like there’s a new you).
1. Sterling Ink Pocket Common Planner for $38
The Common Planner has developed somewhat of a cult following in recent years—and the portable “pocket-sized” version is no exception. Fans appreciate its basic design, which allots pages for quarterly, monthly, weekly, and daily planning as well as plenty of blank pages for your stream-of-consciousness scribblings. Bonus: the brand founder consistently uploads YouTube tutorials on the many ways there are to structure and get creative with their products.
2. Forvencer 2025 Weekly Planner for $7.99 ($8.99)
Several online reviewers note that they made the switch from purchasing more expensive planners to the Forvencer Weekly Planner and haven’t regretted it. They love the fact that it lays flat and folds over as well as its sturdiness and purse or backpack-friendly size. One customer wishes the inspirational quotes didn’t take up quite as much room on some of the pages that could otherwise be used for jotting things down.
3. Paper Source Dateless Planner for $29.95
If you’ve ever gone off the grid for any amount of time and then returned and lamented the unused space in your diary, this Dateless Planner might provide a better experience. It doesn’t label months or dates. Instead, it allows you to fill those in for yourself. That means you’re not wasting space if you skip a week or two—you can simply return to planning when you’re ready.
4. Balance Planner by MindJournal for $48
Ollie Aplin started journaling to cope with years of unprocessed thoughts and feelings related to the death of his mom. Later, he created MindJournal to encourage other men to better understand themselves and their needs through writing. The Balance Planner contains similar introspective prompts that promote self-care, but with an emphasis on tracking weekly and monthly goals. (Note: This monthly planner tracks three months at a time.)
5. You Don’t Have to Understand Planner for $24
People I’ve Loved makes a whimsical, playful, unconventional 12-month planner that plainly states on its cover “You Don’t Have to Understand. I’m Just Taking Care of Myself.” This is as good a mantra as any for 2025 (although you can use the planner whenever you’d like as it’s not dated). Mostly freeform in structure, the planner contains illustrations such as a crystal ball in which you can fill in your hopes for the year and an outline of a human body to mark how you feel and where you feel it.
6. Yearly Astral Planner for $12.90
If you’re someone who wants to more seamlessly integrate the celestial with the habitual, you no longer need to jot down planetary alignments in the margins of your mundane planner. This yearly Astral Planner spans from August 2024 to December 2025 and includes information on moon phases, zodiac signs, birth charts, and more. It also features a “schedule” section with students in mind, although anyone can benefit from tracking their daily meetings, appointments, and more. Reviewers appreciate the thick paper quality.
7. Full Focus Wellness Planner for $45.99
It’s easy to take for granted the simple yet profoundly influential actions you engage in every day for your wellness, like drinking enough water and preparing a healthy lunch. The aim of the Full Focus Wellness planner is to give you a place to come up with, track, and celebrate those wins as well as broader goals throughout the year. It’s likely not the ideal yearly planner for those who prefer a more open-ended approach. But if reflecting on even the seemingly granular aspects of your life is something you find rewarding, you might favor this pick over other 2025 planners.
