2. The Teacher’s Guide to Accessible Yoga

An auditory accompaniment to the book The Teacher’s Guide to Accessible Yoga: Best Practices for Sharing Yoga with Every Body, this limited series podcast finds author Jivana Heyman sharing the interviews that informed his writing. 3. The Funny Thing About Yoga

Yoga teacher and Yoga Journal’s Editor-in-Chief Renee Schettler considers this podcast a respite from some of the yoga space’s occasional intensity. A production of C.A.Y.A. Yoga School, The Funny Thing About Yoga follows hosts Bradshaw Wish and Giana Gambino as they explore all aspects of practicing and teaching yoga, often through a lens of levity, and invite listeners to do the same.

6. Let’s Talk Yoga

“One of my favorites is Let’s Talk Yoga with Arundhati Baitmangalkar,” says teacher Trish Mukherjee. “She’s a yoga teacher who immigrated to the U.S. from India and hosts insightful and compassionate conversations about topics from Sanskrit to cultural appropriation, the business of yoga to anatomy topics like the spine or fascia.”

“Her approach to training yoga teachers ensures that we stay aligned with its most essential teachings,” adds Schettler. “It allows for innovation and evolution but it doesn’t fall into the typical Western traps.”

7. Cheaper Than Therapy with Vanessa and Dené

“It’s brilliant women bringing their Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) therapy expertise combined with their backgrounds in recovery, yoga (Dené is a yoga teacher), and so much more,” says Ezrin of Cheaper Than Therapy. “I learn something new about myself every episode I listen to and I love the diversity of their offerings. Some podcasts are interviews, others are live workshops, and some are just them conversing.”

Cruickshank, co-founder of Yoga Medicine, Land, and their interviewees are detailed and articulate in their descriptions of anatomy and physiology.

The whole series was a huge callout on Western yoga culture, which has subsumed the original cultural context and turned yoga into a fitness practice for skinny white women.”
